For many people, the days of wandering into a store, browsing the shelves, and walking out with music stored on plastic are a distant memory. In Japan, however, the CD is still king.
Here are the hits I heard very often in Japan last year.

Abramis Brama returns with their seventh studio album, which also celebrates the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut on the Swedish heavy rock scene and national radio. At the time, however, heavy rock with strong ’60s and ’70s roots, sung in their native Swedish tongue, was hardly in fashion. Still, Abramis Brama persevered, and aside from one album (by request of the record label at the time), the band has not swayed, nor betrayed their initial ideals of fusing the doomy thunder of Black Sabbath with the deep groove of Mountain and the lyrical tradition that started with Swedish cult band November in the late ’60s – also adding a Swedish folk influence and some psychedelic touches.

Some people look down their nose at compilation albums but I think that when they get it right, there’s nothing better about getting to enjoy a mixed bag of the best tracks by a bunch of different artists. So, from now on here will be some of my favourites.

Johan Tommy Karlsson (born April 10, 1976 in Hässleholm) is a Swedish techno/electropop artist who uses the alias Familjen (Swedish pronunciation: [faˈmɪljɛn], The Family).
Karlsson describes his music as indie-techno.
All his lyrics are in Swedish, or the southern dialect of Scanian to be more precise. He performs live with Andreas Tilliander on synthesizer.

The debut album from ReVertigo, Sweden-based duo formed by Mats Levén (vocals) and Anders Wikström (guitar), on February 23. As close personal and musical friends for nearly 30 years, REVERTIGO album is the next chapter in an ongoing collaboration. I score it a remarkable 9.5/10.

Very interesting duo. The new band formed by comedian/guitar shredder Dave Hill and extreme metal veteran Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, DEATH and btw one of the pioneers of the death/doom genre), has inked a deal with the New York City independent label Tee Pee Records. The group’s self-titled debut, recorded and mixed by Tom Beaujour at Nuthouse Recording in Hoboken, New Jersey, was released on 16th February, 2018.

For those who loves something the non-traditional traditional. And if 日本 in your heart.
Asagi (ex.D) finally released his first full length album for his solo project in January of 2018. I just think Asagi is really talented, no matter what kind of genre or theme! This album revolves around the Samurai style (I guess) like the first videos of D.
The album was released under “HPQ” (Sublabel of Avex), very famous label because many important bands have been part of it like Luna Sea (in the past), GACKT, Nightmare, Ryuichi Kawamura and Seikima II.
